ASSOCIATION HEALTH PLAN
We’re working hard to provide you with solutions that may help you attract and retain quality employees
The exclusive Association Health Plan is an option for small restaurant and lodging member employers with 2-99 eligible employees through the National Restaurant Association and UnitedHealthcare®. Designed specifically for the hospitality industry, the Trust offers the product and pricing flexibility historically available only to large businesses. The Trust is not available in all states.
One of the many features of the plan is the ability to do a management carve-out. When restaurateurs face challenges getting enough employees to participate in their health insurance benefit (enough to meet the minimum participation rate set by the insurance company), they often use a so-called “carve-out” to offer the benefit to a smaller subgroup of employees.
For example, if an employer offers health insurance to salaried employees, rather than salaried and hourly, they are more likely to be able to meet the participation-rate requirements. Carve-outs also work when an employer wants to offer different insurance benefits to different grades of employees. Common examples of carve-outs are “management only,” “salary only,” and “union only.”
Additional features of the Trust:
This members-only offering joins our suite of solutions including discounts on medical and specialty benefits like dental, vision, disability and life from UnitedHealthcare; and a Pharmacy Discount Card with savings on all FDA-approved prescription medications.
