What is PROSTART?

ProStart® is a nationwide, two-year program for high school students that develops the best and brightest talent into tomorrow's industry leaders. From culinary techniques to management skills, ProStart's industry-driven curriculum provides real-world educational opportunities and builds practical skills and a foundation that will last a lifetime.

How PROSTART Works

By bringing industry and the classroom together, ProStart gives students a platform to discover new interests and talents and opens doors for fulfilling careers. It happens through a curriculum that includes all facets of the industry and sets a high standard of excellence for students and the industry. ProStart has become a talent pipeline for careers in the foodservice industry.
Highlights from this year's ProStart Competition!

PROSTART National Certificate of Achievement

Students who  have  completed the requirements of the ProStart program are awarded an industry-recognized certificate- the ProStart National Certificate of Achievement. To earn the certificate, students pass two national exams, demonstrate a mastery of foundational skills and work 400 mentored hours. 

Scholarships

ProStart students who choose to pursue post-secondary school degrees/certifications receive special consideration for
​scholarships awarded by ATHEF.

Arkansas PROSTART Competition

Our annual Arkansas ProStart Competition will take place on March 6, 2024 at the University of Arkansas Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute. ​
